Charqueada Boa Vista, Pelotas

4.4
Charqueada Boa Vista, an old livestock ranch now operating as a tourist attraction, is a popular place for family parties, picnics, and relaxing weekends with small groups of friends. The ranch once employed the work of slaves to produce lucrative dried beef (locally called "charque," hence the name of the site). Today at this ranch you can make arrangements to fish or take boat rides along the Arroio de Pelotas River. A visit to this site offers a quick way for the entire family to learn about Brazil’s colonial history, when this region’s entire economy rested on the production of dried meat, a staple food once made for and by the slaves. • One of the ranches of pellets, we went to a wedding in the late afternoon. Simply wonderful! All very conserved, the main house spotless, maintaining the original style. Prent back to a historic ride.

  • Mostbeautiful place by the river. Everytbing is beautifully well kept by its owner and his wife who are amiable educated people.
  • Place top p graduation parties and weddings. Only bad thing in the summer is the amount of mosquitoes. But there's no better place for Pellets in a photo shoot.

Where to stay in Pelotas

The Porto and Centro districts, just north of Canal de Sao Goncalo, represent the most popular places to stay for visitors to the city. Comfortable chain hotels sit on grand boulevards, while simpler, more humble offerings can be found on the districts' side streets, including hostels and pousadas (guesthouses). Heading east, motels along the Av. Adolfo Fetter provide good options for those wanting to explore the surrounding landscape, as well as the main urban areas. Still farther to the east, you'll find comfortable pousadas next to the lagoon's beach.
