Cajueiro de Pirangi, Parnamirim

#1 of 890 in Wildlife in Brazil
Producing over 60,000 cashews a year and boasting a circumference of nearly 500 m (1,650 ft), Cajueiro de Pirangi covers an area of almost 8,400 square meters (90,000 sq ft). With a size of 70 normally sized trees, this is the world’s largest cashew tree. Resembling a forest, this single tree’s unusual spread over such a large area was created by its outward growth. The tree’s branches, bending all the way to the ground due to their great weight, constantly take new roots. Though it was most likely planted in 1888, some believe the tree is actually over a thousand years old. Take a short break from your tour of the region to see and photograph this old giant. • I wouldn't drive more than 45 minutes for this but worth it for less. A truly enormous tree. Lots of souvenir kiosks around the area to pick up knickknacks. Right by the beach.  more »
  • The cashew nut tree was indeed enormous, covering over 9,000 square meters. We could walk in between its branches completely shaded from the sun. Apparently it’s got a genetic malfunction which...  more »
  • Well worth a visit! A huge, growing tree swallowing the town. Lovely to walk under branches and things for children to do to keep them occupied.  more »

  • I am impressed by how nature manages to survive in the midst of all human interference, the cashew is a living proof of this since it gets SQUEEZEd amid streets and asphalt, I say with certainty that it could be much greater than it already is. rceber that everything was thought for the tourist, whether from the structure of a fair right at the entrance, where the tourist can buy everything, whether in the clean bathrooms constantly, or in the amount of guides and people ready to take any questions, be it in security armed that protects the entrance, in the fee that is charged to enter, in the free parking for tourists, either in the fact that it is possible to eat cashews at the time when the fruit is available, either on the walkways that make you dress and visualize the entire cashew tree and take out the them photographs, whether at the lookout that offers a beautiful view of the surroundings. More tadinho of cashew squeezed in the midst of civilization, taking all this is an unmissable visit.

  • An important tourist spot is the largest cashew tree in the world with more than 9,000 square meters. Admission costs 8.00 and children up to five years old do not pay. It is possible to find in the vicinity of the cashew bathroom and craft stalls.
