Pao de Acucar Peak, Paraty
(4.8/5 based on 95+ reviews on the web)
Pao de Acucar Peak offers a panoramic view of the region from 500 meters (1,600 ft) above the Mamanguá tropical fjord, the only one of its kinds in Brazil. You can access this rare view of unspoiled jungle and curving Brazilian coastline by climbing a trail through lush Atlantic rainforest, home to a number of native plant and animal species. The trail is not very steep and is suitable for hikers of all ages and levels of fitness. You can reach the top in about 90 minutes, but take care to bring plenty of water, a light snack, and a good camera, of course. Guided hiking trips are available from local tour operators. Join in and combine this hike with a day of sea kayaking. Make Pao de Acucar Peak a part of your Paraty vacation plans using our Paraty trip itinerary planner.

  • The pão de acucar is reachable in two ways. Either by boat from Paraty itself (depending on the boat between 25 minutes and 2 hours) or from Paraty Mirim (45 minutes by bus from Paraty bus station). T...  more »
  • This place has a sure energy, it's surreal, well worth going to boat and back up the trail to Parati-Mirim

  • The trail starts on the beach of cruise and early already reveals that is intended for adventurers: fairly steep, but at no point dangerous, advising the use of specific shoes for trails. Once at the top the view is amazing, revealing all the Saco do Mamanguá, Paraty-Mirim and Ilha Grande. On the way back, stop to have lunch in the restaurant of Mr Orlando.
