Estrada Real, Paraty
(3.9/5 based on 280+ reviews on the web)
Walk back in time as you follow Estrada Real, the paved road built by African slaves in the 18th Century to take gold and precious stones to ships bound for Portugal. It remains intact through Paraty’s incredible rainforest, and passionate “eco-historical” guides lead tours that immerse you in both nature and knowledge. While you have Paraty’s rich and colorful history explained to you, you also learn about the local flora and fauna. Stop to admire the wild raspberries and avocados your guide will find along the way. Towards the end of the gentle hike, you will stop at a beautiful waterfall run where you have a chance to swim and slide, before finishing the tour at a cachaça distillery that still makes Brazilian rum the traditional way. A taste of the finished product ensures you finish the day in high spirits. By using our Paraty itinerary planner, you can arrange your visit to Estrada Real and other attractions in Paraty.

  • The serra da road was paved recently and is very good, large and well-signposted sections and the route is beautiful to view. There are screens along some stretches to prevent access of animals to the track and "runway" in some points for the crossing. At first the road should be closed at night for conservation, local flora and fauna, but the locks and monitoring required have not yet been implemented. I still wouldn't recommend the journey the night better be the track's path curves sharp enough and too steep. The very end of the descent and the flat part that leads to Paraty clover have not yet been reformed, there are sharp curves in narrow two-way stretches well in.

  • Dangerous road. A lot of curve. But the visual, it pays! Waterfalls bordering the road, are beautiful.

  • Lindo.
O trabalho do artesão é incrível!
Recomendo!!
