Estrada Real, Paraty

(4/5 based on 300+ reviews on the web)
Walk back in time as you follow Estrada Real, the paved road built by African slaves in the 18th Century to take gold and precious stones to ships bound for Portugal. It remains intact through Paraty’s incredible rainforest, and passionate “eco-historical” guides lead tours that immerse you in both nature and knowledge. While you have Paraty’s rich and colorful history explained to you, you also learn about the local flora and fauna. Stop to admire the wild raspberries and avocados your guide will find along the way. Towards the end of the gentle hike, you will stop at a beautiful waterfall run where you have a chance to swim and slide, before finishing the tour at a cachaça distillery that still makes Brazilian rum the traditional way. A taste of the finished product ensures you finish the day in high spirits. By using our Paraty itinerary planner, you can arrange your visit to Estrada Real and other attractions in Paraty.

  • Very pretty and very twisty road. Is good between wedge until the descent of the Sierra de Paraty, when you get down there or who will go up at the beginning of the road is bumpy. Needs attention in some curves because they are narrow. To get down to the second or recommend depending on the slope until the first so as not to overheat the brakes, don't be afraid of the noise of the engine, the same will not burst.

  • Really very beautiful paraty is wedge road but requires a lot of attention from the driver. Many pieces are narrow, I didn't see any sign of distress or emergency need. I traveled by day wouldn't come for the night.

  • We left Paraty towards Dutra and we chose this road be shorter path and be good, according to residents. At first have some holes and follows by a few km. so passes waterfalls is steeper, winding and narrow. Very careful in some stretches for only 1 car passes at a time. Depending on the car and luggage, will have to put first gear or it won't go up. Halfway up the road changes a bit, gets wider and with bloquetes by 10. It passes the boundary of the State of Rio de Janeiro to SÃO PAULO, the situation there improves.

  • Lindo. Todos deveriam passar e prestigiar esta iniciativa
  • A história é muito bem contada por meio de maquetes dos pontos turísticos das cidades que compõem a estrada real! O trabalho do artesão é incrível!
Recomendo!!
