Casa da Cultura de Paraty, Paraty

Casa da Cultura de Paraty occupies a historic 18th century house originally built in 1754 and opened to the public in 2004. It houses a permanent exhibition about the local history and culture. In the Salon of Indigenous Culture, visitors can see the “carpets” made of colored sawdust and flower petals used during the festival of Corpus Christi in June. It also offers a variety of temporal exhibitions and concerts during the year. A variety of musical and literary events take place here for you to enjoy, along with a library to peruse and small bar where you can enjoy a nice coffee. One of the permanent exhibits is interactive, where you can watch and listen to locals giving testimonials of their experience living in Paraty. You can also purchase items from the locals, which helps to support small business. • A fine example of colonial architecture. Beautiful and with relevant activities. I was with 2 good exhibitions. The problem: it's hot and stuffy inside.

  • That charm the Casa de Cultura de Paraty. Don't worry because you will bump into it many times during your walk by Paraty Historica. The place comes down a little the story of Paraty with curiosities that will surely complement your ride. The place has a beautiful collection of pictures with Djanira and Lasar Segall.

  • visitors have the chance to explore the details of colonial Portuguese architecture that both see in the historic center of Paraty, as well as to get in touch with the art of the region. Only for the architecture already sailing to visit, the paintings and the sculptures are an attraction. Just don't go expecting the coffee inside the House of culture is a big deal.

Where to stay in Paraty

If you want close proximity to raucous summer nightlife and some of the best things to see in Paraty, look no further than the historical center. There you can choose from any number of guesthouses, inns, and boutique hotels, which integrate seamlessly into the town's colonial architecture. If beach access is your primary concern, cross the canal and head a few minutes north, until you arrive at the coastal neighborhood of Jabaquara, where you'll find a range of cozy options. Farther from the center, the hillside neighborhood of Pantanal offers something a bit quieter among the trees.
