Art Gallery Landmark
Casa da Cultura de Paraty occupies a historic 18th century house originally built in 1754 and opened to the public in 2004. It houses a permanent exhibition about the local history and culture. In the Salon of Indigenous Culture, visitors can see the “carpets” made of colored sawdust and flower petals used during the festival of Corpus Christi in June. It also offers a variety of temporal exhibitions and concerts during the year. A variety of musical and literary events take place here for you to enjoy, along with a library to peruse and small bar where you can enjoy a nice coffee. One of the permanent exhibits is interactive, where you can watch and listen to locals giving testimonials of their experience living in Paraty. You can also purchase items from the locals, which helps to support small business. Where to stay in Paraty

If you want close proximity to raucous summer nightlife and some of the best things to see in Paraty, look no further than the historical center. There you can choose from any number of guesthouses, inns, and boutique hotels, which integrate seamlessly into the town's colonial architecture. If beach access is your primary concern, cross the canal and head a few minutes north, until you arrive at the coastal neighborhood of Jabaquara, where you'll find a range of cozy options. Farther from the center, the hillside neighborhood of Pantanal offers something a bit quieter among the trees.

  • Must-see during a walk in the historic centre. Varied views. Have a coffee in your internal courtyard. GREAT for KIDS programming of story-telling, film and other activities geared for small. Some exhibitions require watchful eye of parents about the curious little hands of the small, but many of the exhibits housed here awaken the interest of the children as well. Despite the irregular pavement ACCESSIBILITY from the historic center to make life of wheelchair users, it is possible to park a few metres (Fresh Street) and use the cover for wheelchair users at the side entrance.
