Ilha Canela, Palmas

#2 of 10 in Nature in Palmas
Island Nature / Park
Cozy and private, with a secluded beach favored by families with kids, Ilha Canela offers a view of the entire city, which the locals claim is best appreciated at sunset. This artificially-made island rises out of calm lake waters and is a frequent site of family picnics. Children enjoy swimming in several areas set up for them in the warm shallows. Adults can choose from several popular bars, with tables and chairs set up right in the water, so you can enjoy a cold drink without ever having to leave your own spot in the lake. You can also visit one of many food stalls serving roasted fish with rice and fresh salad, considered to be a local delicacy. • Without doubt one of the best options for fun in Palmas. As we don't have sea, we can only enjoy the beauty of rivers and lakes. Access to the island is by flying boats or floating. The service is excellent! Good food, fair price, extremely cold drinks. The tents are spacious and comfortable. Both in part the sand, qto the ´ in water. Great option to enjoy with family, friends and even alone. Super indico!

  • Island in the Lake of Palms, accessible by boat and has great structure to pass the day. Clean water. Only downside is the amount of people who can be there depending on the day and time, but nothing that can ruin the experience. The island beautiful and well cared for. You can also access by helicopter.

Where to stay in Palmas

With a relatively small tourist crowd, Palmas features a concentration of higher-end accommodations, like resorts and comfortable hotels. You can find more economical options if you look a little harder, including more budget-friendly hostels within walking distance from the center. Consider booking well in advance, as these options can be limited. Ecotourism resorts in a nearby town are a popular accommodation option as well.
