  • It's amazing the mining dimension in Ouro Preto's historical aspect and the whole region, in terms of gold and slaves. Today, it is known that the slaves brought from African countries and kingdoms, were brought from regions where it had knowledge of the technique of extraction of ores, long before the discovery of gold and minerals in Brazil. That is, some slaves, not only for muscular work, and also because in some regions where they were captured, had knowledge of mining, excavation, support structures, aqueducts, trouble, etc. The visit to mina du Van, with the Rose, a student of History at the University of Ouro Preto, with great knowledge in the field, leads us to view and review our concepts about the slaves brought from Africa, which reveal, they brought their traditions, beliefs, knowledge and technological intellectuals at that time. There are already more than 2000 years, extracting gold throughout Africa (see: Egypt, Pharaohs, etc). Great and fruitful visit.

  • Great place to meet the heavy lifting of gold extraction. The history books only show the beauty of the churches but don't show the suffering behind it. Very good to know and admire even more. The Guide Dudu (enough faith) is very friendly and relaxed.

  • Excellent place. Guide was a Historian who happens to be married to a Geologist. She clearly made her homework... surprising on geological accuracy, intertwined with historical facts... Result... tour was awesome!
  • Great
  • Very nice ride, admission is charged, you follow a guide through the tunnels, there you hear stories and has a minimum track of who was living at the time was that active and other mines in the region.

  • This place is amazing and sad at the same time. Shows the reality of blacks who suffered and died in the mines without any quality of life. This tour is a history lesson that everyone should do when the Ouro Preto.

  • Very interesting to visit a gold mine in the city! I confess that it's scary, especially at the entrance, but soon get used and worth history class!
