Site that provides sports courts, hiking and abseiling. Barbecue grills and spaces great for a barbecue or just a picnic under the trees, right next to the river.

The place is very beautiful, with lush nature. Suggest going with tennis to do the walk through all the 5 waterfalls. The way is hard, but worth it for the beauty. At the local restaurant for those who want to have lunch there. There is also possibility to take your meal or prepare it in place. Entrance fee is charged. Oh, important, take money, they don't take cards.

The reserve family file is a place with an exuberant nature. Very beautiful waterfalls. The day we visited the reservation while we did the trail to see the waterfalls a family of monkeys (howlers) followed the trail. An unforgettable experience.

It's nature. Nature is good. There were some geese, monkeys and ducks. Way too many spiders. The rocks, underneath the natural bathing areas along the creek that runs through the reserve, hurt my feet. A lot. But I guess that's just the way things are. The lifeguards are pretty cool and the landscape is gorgeous. Main bathing areas are the first drop which is like 10 feet high and 10 ft deep. Second is 14 high and 14 deep. The others are increasingly higher and deeper until the fifth one, the highest at 100 feet high and like 40 deep. (Those are my estimates, they've got signs everywhere, some of them are Portuguese only, some of them are Spanish and English as well. All of them are metric, though). It's a family business. It could use some improvement on the insect riddled eating areas, IMO.

Gorgeous ecological preserved land. Awesome tourist attraction and an area that's ripe for scientific research. Enjoy with your family. *****

Where to stay in Novo Hamburgo

Accommodations in the city are much more "novo" than they are "Hamburgo," so those hoping to stay in a period timber-clad German pension will be disappointed. Novo Hamburgo's accommodations tend to cluster in the Centro district, either side of the main east-west thoroughfare. Essentially, hotels are the only lodgings in the city; they range from the simple and casual to more upmarket, business-traveler oriented fare. Despite the lack of variety in form, you'll find a decent choice when it comes to character and cost.
