Within the historic neighborhood of Hamburgo Velho, Novo Hamburgo's heritage of German immigration is still preserved in its buildings and architecture. Experience a taste of the city as it was in the 19th century. Of particular note amongst the eclectic architectural styles, are the neoclassical building of the Ernesto Frederico Scheffel Foundation, the mock-Tudor Casa Schmitt-Presser Community Museum, and the Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Magi and Our Lady of Mercy, with its beautiful and intricate stained-glass windows. In the two cemeteries in the neighborhood, you will find tombstones dating back to the late 19th century, with gothic details and epitaphs in German.   • The neighborhood is curious. Has old buildings restored, little trade and some afforestation.. This gives a special air. Needs a good coffee shop. It is also difficult to park on the main street.
