  • The visit to this museum is a history lesson, and culture preservation. To your structure is all three-storey half-timbered with great collection for the visitor to explore. On site there is still some traces of the original building from the first half of the 19th century belonged to German immigrant João Pedro Schimtt and today is listed by IPHAN since 1985. There are on the first floor the recreation of an old grocery store with various time of great items donated by the majority community. The attendance at the location was wonderful, interesting, thought-provoking, explanatory and well detailed and never look dull or tiresome. Access is free to learn about an important part of German immigration in the region and in our State.

Where to stay in Novo Hamburgo

Accommodations in the city are much more "novo" than they are "Hamburgo," so those hoping to stay in a period timber-clad German pension will be disappointed. Novo Hamburgo's accommodations tend to cluster in the Centro district, either side of the main east-west thoroughfare. Essentially, hotels are the only lodgings in the city; they range from the simple and casual to more upmarket, business-traveler oriented fare. Despite the lack of variety in form, you'll find a decent choice when it comes to character and cost.
