Rare is the opportunity to meet a great artist. In the garden of Deny you're received by the sculptor. I loved it and I hope to come back more often. Tip: there is a nice cafe across the street, wasn't because I had just coffee.

I highly recommend a visit to the garden of Deny. Cobra R $15 per person for the visit, but the price is a faithful customer for the quality and originality of the sculptures.

Gigantic clay sculptures covered in moss make Jardim do Nêgo in Campo do Coelho, a district of Nova Friburgo, a special place to visit. The unusual garden was created by artist Geraldo Simplício—a.k.a “Nêgo”—who lived as a hermit in the place for over 30 years. Nêgo uses the landscape’s natural formations as the inspiration and foundation for his work. He covers the clay with moss, giving each sculpture an otherworldy yet earthy vibe. The garden is a small, peaceful spot packed with larger-than-life works of art. There are currently 17 sculptures scattered throughout the place. Nêgo himself is typically present to greet visitors and chat about his work.

Very good. Just one caveat: no structure for people with reduced mobility. The floor is irregular, without ramps and some stairs without handrails.

This space was open, with several works, and a small Museum of the Blood, which is an artist sculptor in art in multivariate stones. It is worth visiting, I particularly liked.

Where to stay in Nova Friburgo

As a popular tourist hotspot, Nova Friburgo boasts a wide range of boutique, midsize hotels in the city center, mainly clustered within a few blocks of the Bengalas River. These accommodations, just a short walk from the city's main streets, tend to be somewhat upscale, with onsite pools and gardens. Many feature architectural styles reminiscent of Swiss and German mountain chalets. In the hills south of the city, past Point de Saudade, you'll find more nature-oriented options and eco-lodges, which focus on comfort combined with a somewhat rustic feel. Plenty of "pousadas" also dot the area: traditional Brazilian guesthouses offering lower prices in exchange for fewer amenities.
