Art Museum Museum
The UFO-shaped Museum of Contemporary Art exhibits works by contemporary Brazilian and international artists. The unusually shaped structure is the brainchild of none other than famed architect Oscar Niemeyer and, with a collection of over 1,200 artworks, remains one of the largest and most significant institutions of its kind in the country. Looking from the museum's observation room you can see the bay below, the city of Rio de Janeiro, and the surrounding mountainous landscape. The museum restaurant is a great place for discussing the art over a meal or a drink. Put Museum of Contemporary Art at the forefront of your travel plans using our Niteroi travel itinerary maker.

  • Didn't view much of the art collection, but took in the amazing views of Rio. Restaurant slightly over priced (it's a museum restaurant...), but tasty. Excellent views from within.  more »
  • For those who love Niemayer''s architecture this is a nice place for visiting. Beatific view, but the souvenir' shop is a little expensive.  more »
  • The museum has a great look. It's small, has only three halls, but the feeling of the experience is unique. To watch sculpture while looking the sea through great windows in the midst of a sunset was ...  more »

  • Like most have written before me - worth the trip just to experience the architecture and the alternative view of Rio. It was a must visit place after seeing it on the Amazing Race. 📅Visited March 01 2013 🇸🇪
  • An amazing place! The view is incredible! I paid for the tickets R$12 to visit the art exhibition! Worth it!
  • The architecture for itself is worth the trip. The contemporary art selection I was confronted with as I visited was well contextualized and can transport one to deep reflexion.
  • Very nice Place to have a view in niteroi. The restaurante serves very good food, the museum does not have a lot of attractions inside. however, in the restaurante there are very nice horizontal windows to see all the bay. Worth going to have lunch there !
  • The view is excellent and the art and architecture is cool. However, only one floor was open when I visited, so it was a little expensive for the experience I had.
