The UFO-shaped Museu de Arte Contemporanea de Niteroi exhibits works by contemporary Brazilian and international artists. The unusually shaped structure is the brainchild of none other than famed architect Oscar Niemeyer and, with a collection of over 1,200 artworks, remains one of the largest and most significant institutions of its kind in the country. This is a beautiful museum to look at. Shaped like a saucer and we found a rather scenic way to get there. A mixture of ferry and Uber. There are great views that can be had from here. As for the... more »

One of the places in Rio with spectacular building structure and a good view. There is also a wonderful experience of contemporary art and a show of colours mixed with the sound of the waves as they break on the rocks below from the view in the windows of the museum. It's wonderful. However, I believe it lacks more expository art

The building of the museum is great and definitely worth seeing. The exhibition when we visited however was "too minimalist" to put it extremely kindly. There was basically nothing.

The building itself is the art, absolutely fantastic. A wonderful place. When we visited there were some good video installations in the upper floor. Really pleased we made the journey over from Copacabana to Niteroi to visit. Don't forget your camera.!
