Beach
Small and charmingly rustic, the fishing village of Mangue Seco Beach lies at the tip of a peninsula formed by the Rio Real on one side, and the Atlantic Ocean on the other. Sandy trails connect a few scattered homes, locally-run guesthouses and restaurants, and a tiny, typical Brazilian church. To get from the village, on the river bank, to the ocean, you cross a vast expanse of tall, white sand dunes, perfect for dune buggies. The beach itself is wide and flat, and the warm shallows stretch out far into the sea. Despite the area's fame, its beaches having featured in a well-known telenovela, the extra effort required to access it keeps the tourist crowds at bay; it is easy, therefore, to find a stretch of beach all to yourself.
