Muriqui Beach, Mangaratiba

1.9
Muriqui Beach is a long beach about 1200 m (4000 ft) long with calm and shallow waters. Being easily accessible by the Rio-Santos highway, this beach can get quite busy. Take a nice walk, eat acai on the edge, or go on a boat tour of the islands. Explore the nearby waterfalls and rivers and dine at one of the seafood restaurants. The night is alive with music on the waterfront. Be sure to check out the little train ride for the kids. • Wonderful. Animation every day of the week, several kiosks with attractions. Avoid the last kiosk, price well above normal for normal food.

  • For years won't the Muriqui, and now in March and September 2017 I stayed in hostels in the region. Today talking with local residents, they stated that a biologist collected some water for analysis and it was found that the water is polluted and therefore unfit for bathing. I didn't feel a need to dive. I walked by the Boardwalk, enjoyed the sunset. Many kiosks, vendors, people making walk. The beach was packed today, both of bathers as people who will even enjoy the Boardwalk. Many shops along the avenida beira mar, but lacked in main and parallel streets. Yesterday afternoon, had live music on some kiosks and in others had music playing. People taking their pints, other dancing I was very excited. If you (like me) don't care to get into the water may like the Muriqui waterfront tour. The night is good to avoid the region.

  • The beach is narrow sandy beach, but quite long. It has several beach huts serving food and drink and livens up with music in the evening. Just one street back and across the rail line, has plenty of ...  more »

Where to stay in Mangaratiba

Given the attractive coastal location, it's no surprise that Mangaratiba's accommodations cling the seaside and focus far more on looking out than staying in. Stick to the coastal roads and you'll see pretty much every lodging option here, with choice mainly limited to low-rise hotels. These vary in terms of amenities, size, and cost; expect to pay more for those with a demarcated area of private beach. Pre-booking is essential, because of the relatively small number of options available.
