Conceicao de Jacarei Beach, Mangaratiba

#7 of 25 in Things to do in Mangaratiba
Beach Nature / Park
A wide strip of golden sands, lapped by virtually waveless warm waters, makes Conceicao de Jacarei Beach one of the most popular tourist spots in the area. The cozy beach is surrounded by gentle hills covered with lush greenery, which makes this part of the coast secluded and peaceful. This spot is also one of three ports that provide a ferry service for Ilha Grande. You can stay on this beach for a day of sunbathing and swimming, or arrive early for the ferry headed to the "Big Island" and use those extra few minutes for a light meal of roasted fish or lobsters. Several rustic kiosks serve warm food and cold drinks right on the beach. Make Conceicao de Jacarei Beach a part of your Mangaratiba vacation plans using our Mangaratiba itinerary planner.

  • Right in the middle of the Costa verde is this little slice of heaven. With your quiet beach, waterfalls and a picturesque and inviting Boardwalk where you can taste a delicious fried fish. At the entrance you will come across invitations to cruise the beaches or the big island.

  • This, and the Muriqui, are the only beaches really Mangaratiba which are on the Mainland. Is in the District of Conceição do Jacareí, the Rio-Santos highway towards Lahore, some 25 km from the Centre of Mangalore. Has all necessary infrastructure to take advantage of the beach. However, all very, very expensive indeed. There are services offered on the beach (chairs, parasol, food, etc).

Where to stay in Mangaratiba

Given the attractive coastal location, it's no surprise that Mangaratiba's accommodations cling the seaside and focus far more on looking out than staying in. Stick to the coastal roads and you'll see pretty much every lodging option here, with choice mainly limited to low-rise hotels. These vary in terms of amenities, size, and cost; expect to pay more for those with a demarcated area of private beach. Pre-booking is essential, because of the relatively small number of options available.
