Parque Ecologico Januari, Manaus
(4.5/5 based on 380+ reviews on the web)
To see the sights of the Amazon rain forest firsthand visit Parque Ecologico Januari, a natural reserve of 3.6422 sq m (9,000 acres) of dry land forests, low lands, and flooded forests. As you canoe on the lakes and streams, through large and small trees with lianas and vegetation typical of this ecosystem, explore the plants that grow in the Amazon. In particular, don’t miss the chance to see the symbol of the region, the water lilly (Amazon Victória or Nympheaceae), a plant that spreads its round leaves on the shallow waters, measuring up to 2 m (7 ft) in diameter. The flower lasts only three days. It starts out white when it blossoms, then turns lilac and finally dark red. the park is located at the Negro River, about an hour from Manaus by boat. Don't miss the Meeting of the Water, the spectacular junction of the Negro and Solimoes Rivers. Use our Manaus tour planner to add Parque Ecologico Januari and other attractions to your Manaus vacation plans.

  • On the sidewalk, as we know the immensity of the Amazon River, until you reach the location of the Park, we can meet some natives of the region and the local animals.

  • We took boat ride and there are almost no more vitória régia. The few that there were, were with the leaves well bruised.

  • We only saw a few from the viewing deck. But you could tell they are huge. We also saw monkeys, turtles and birds.

  • Up close with nature in the heart of the Amazon. Very unique experience not to be missed if you are anywhere close to Manaus.
  • Wonderful place where you get to see the nature of the Amazon. Don't forget to drop by the place with the anaconda and the sloth (ask your boat driver).
