#4 of 28 in Wildlife in Manaus
This secluded jungle archipelago, boasting upward of 400 islands, is the perfect place for you to appreciate the unique ecology of the Amazon. Lying upriver from Manaus on the Rio Negro, Arquipelago de Anavilhanas is a naturalist’s paradise, both biodiverse and beautiful. You can explore the 1,000 sq km (386 sq mi) labyrinth of dense forest, creeks, swamps, and beaches by boat or board a small plane for some spectacular aerial views. A local guide will help you keep your bearings, as well as identify the abundance of flora and fauna. Keep your eyes peeled for monkeys, sloths, giant arapaima fish, black caimans, and the elusive manatee. Should you go swimming in the warm waters, you'll very likely be joined by schools of friendly pink dolphins. I've been several times in the region of the Anavilhanas-Rio Negro. Fishing is not abundant-some floating hostels are interesting to visit, but the beauty of the confluence of the Islands can only be seen and is BEAUTIFUL

One of the points of emphasis for who sails the Solimões River, are the tours at arquipelado. From the ship, we could embark on boats and meet the creeks and rivers.

The Anavilhanas National Park can be visited on a cruise in the Rio Negro. It moves depending on the water level in the flooded forests. The water is calm and black, so that reflected the clouds in it.
