Praia de Pajucara, Maceio

4.0
As the only urban beach where swimming is permitted, Praia de Pajucara is a must-see attraction in Maceió due to its natural pools. The soft white sands backed by palm trees offer a family-friendly place with gentle waves and shallow waters. You can shop for souvenirs, such as handmade baskets, lace, hammocks, and ceramics at the well-known craft market that is open most days. Weekends can become quite crowded, but there are many shaded places to relax and eat takeout from food vendors or restaurants serving lobster, shrimp, and moqueca--a fish stew.

The Pajuçara boardwalk is one of the most popular places for sightseeing and people watching in the city center, but you may have to say "No" to many people begging for money or trying to sell you something. You can charter a boat called a jaganda to ride out to the natural pools created by low tides that expose natural reef formations. These pools allow you to snorkel in the warm waters full of unusual plants and tropical fish swimming over soft, pink sands. • The beach itself (water and sand) are delicious ... have the edge has your spots to attend. Left something to be desired at the time of the rafts. A lot of rubbish and the smell of pee. Rafters take care of the beach, and SHE attracts tourists. All kiosks, otherwise everything great!

  • I loved going in the natural pools of Pajucara. We pay 30 reais per person. The beach very clean and face to the hotel we were.

  • Beach more practical for people who go to Maceió, has good structure of tents with services (chains and sunshades are paid).

  • The edge is very pretty (one of the most beautiful in Brazil, if not the most), for a walk, run, play a footvolley, beach-volley, a beach soccer is very good, the view is indescribable. But to get a surf, Francês Beach, has best waves, as well as particularly find it cleaner, I think it's a dirty Beach Pajuçara. Has the praia do Gunga, Maragogi (that's a paradise), i.e. for a walk to the edge is the best place to swim more prefer another place ... Until rhymed kkk, thanks. I went.

  • I don't owe anything to Maragogi. Alias I think even better, because it is much more structured and cheap Maragogi. To visit the natural pools in Maragogi costs R $150.00 the couple. In Pajuçara, normal is R $60.00 but you can still by R $50.00. In Maragogi a guy was following me to bike offering tours.

  • Very nice beach, pretty busy, with several options of food. Lack a bit of attention from City Hall and awareness of people, because I found a lot of garbage on the sand, bags thrown into the sea outside that at some points of the edge, has a smell of pee terrible, very strong. There are a large number of peddlers and beggars, that may irritate some people.

Where to stay in Maceio

Accommodations in Maceio crowd around the city's eastern shorefront, competing for a spot in the morning sun. The best places to stay during your Maceio vacation are the neighborhoods of Ponta de Terra, Ponta Verde, and Jatiúca. You can find everything from free-spirited hostels to high-class hotels and beach resorts along the coastal strip, within a stone's throw of white sand beaches. To get off the beaten track, go west to the other edge of the city, where palm-lined Lagoa Mundaú brims with birdlife and local fishers looking for the day's catch among the mangroves.
