Ponta Verde Beach, Maceio

3.9
Although swimming is not recommended, Ponta Verde Beach remains one of the hottest urban beaches for its lively nightlife where you can immerse yourself in Brazilian culture. This beach stretches out on a peninsula surrounded by Pajuçara on one side and Jatiúca on the other. Most of the time, you can listen to local live music and watch dancers on the beach or in many of the bar restaurants. This urban beach has less people begging for money or goods than other urban beaches, making it a comfortable place to eat tapioca on the beach. Although the attractive Amazonian straw huts along the waterfront get busy in the evenings, there's usually seating available at their full-service beach bars. • For those who do not want to leave the urban area, is a good option. There's a lot of structure, just a lot of people too ... If you don't mind, it's great. The color of the sea is sensational.

  • The beach is beautiful! The problem is that is too full of full of stalls, bars, restaurants, but it's worth it to meet and spend a day. Every 3 steps appears a seller offering you some product or tour.

  • I was surprised with the dirt from the beach, the views are sensational and the barracks has good food and well located, however, the beach is garbage. A shame.

  • Quiet beach to go with the family, you put your sarong without having to sit on the chairs of the tents. However, there are a lot of seaweed on the beach, if you get sick you don't go. Has some kiosks and restaurants on the edge, to eat and enjoy the view. Next to the totem "I love Maceió has a square of food truck that works at night. There rolls live music and has several options to try.

  • Tourist beach very well populated but could be better cared for. For being a place too hot for tourists the authorities care more about appearance and beach decor than the own organization and local hygiene. Very nice but should be more well taken care of by the municipality and by the people.

Where to stay in Maceio

Accommodations in Maceio crowd around the city's eastern shorefront, competing for a spot in the morning sun. The best places to stay during your Maceio vacation are the neighborhoods of Ponta de Terra, Ponta Verde, and Jatiúca. You can find everything from free-spirited hostels to high-class hotels and beach resorts along the coastal strip, within a stone's throw of white sand beaches. To get off the beaten track, go west to the other edge of the city, where palm-lined Lagoa Mundaú brims with birdlife and local fishers looking for the day's catch among the mangroves.
