Mercado do Artesanato, Maceio

3.4
#6 of 7 in Shopping in Maceio
As the name says, Mercado do Artesanato market sells regional handcrafts and sweets. You can find anything from toys and souvenirs, to refreshments like tapioca and coconut candy. Some would say, the best pair of Brazilian sandals “havainas” can be found there for a reasonable amount. The old building with the clock tower is close to the ocean so you can even enjoy the view as well. • Don't waste your time going to this place as well as stinky has nothing nice. As for handicrafts don't worry contrary to what they told me I found in Pajuçara for the same price, maybe a small difference that will not make up for the expense with cab/Uber. I saw an assessment of another person and was exactly what I thought when arriving on site. Looks like you're in India.

  • What A Shame! Things being equal that of Pajuçara beach but the surroundings is the most ugly and dirty I've ever seen. I was afraid to step out of the building where the handicraft market because it's surrounded by a lot of dirt and mess

  • With went to Saturday, the site was difficult to access by the traffic of cars, motorcycles, cars. felt in India in search of the next fair (passing all of this in the middle ...). Potholed streets and virtually no sidewalks ... but when it enters the craft market environment.. It's a pleasant surprise by the tranquil environment.. ate too much. Many options of clothing, sandals, embroidery, vases, souvenirs shops without customers ... for me it was the only advantage of being able to look calmly. But in price has no difference with pajucara .... same promotions and diversity. For those who want to venture a little more ... buy nuts well cheaper than in Pajucara...no production market max of 50 while on the beach 75. But you have to be prepared ... lol .... goes through half of runners, xingling clothes ... and when you enter the site ... a mixture of beef, chicken, fish being cleaned scares. But I thought the nuts after losing me in the halls and all kinds. And has several types of pepper tbem serves as a souvenir A unique experience ... but I recommend going by taxi.

  • That is a place in Maceió to buy, at the same, time souvenir in case you're a tourist, or to buy day-by-day tools typical from the Northeast and Alagoas cultures. Most of the product there presented are handcrafted. The prices are usually fair.

Where to stay in Maceio

Accommodations in Maceio crowd around the city's eastern shorefront, competing for a spot in the morning sun. The best places to stay during your Maceio vacation are the neighborhoods of Ponta de Terra, Ponta Verde, and Jatiúca. You can find everything from free-spirited hostels to high-class hotels and beach resorts along the coastal strip, within a stone's throw of white sand beaches. To get off the beaten track, go west to the other edge of the city, where palm-lined Lagoa Mundaú brims with birdlife and local fishers looking for the day's catch among the mangroves.
