Historical and Geographical Institute is the second oldest of its kind in Brazil and has one of the most important collections in the country among the African culture. Founded in 1869, this building of ancient architecture houses incredibly valuable pieces including parts of sugar mills, furniture, documents, personal belongings of public personalities, Masonic relics of the first reign, ancient weapons, rare pottery, and a library with thousands of rare books. The feel of the place is rustic and you might even be able to catch a music recital or other performance. • Do you like a space with rare and diversified pieces? So be sure to visit the Ihgal Museum. There you will find spaces that picture historical moments of the people and the culture of Alagoana. #indico #vemcomigo

  • The hit is unique, possessed true relics, uniforms of the Paraguayan War, 1st GM, original clothes of Lampião and Maria Bonita, a vast anthropological collection of Afro-matrix religions like Candomblé, but also of a wide range of indigenous ethnicities, Above all the upper Xingu. Now, there are some problems, it is clear the challenges that management and administration goes through lack of investment, such as the material under strong heat and lack of aeration being subjected to degradation, but without passing a thick view, there is also management as the unfortunate idea of Prohibit capturing photographic images of historical and ethnographic material, instead of prohibiting only the parties with reserve of copyrights, precipitately pursued all the collections. Finally, technical errors in the classification of the material are also perceived, which may indicate some lack of professionals in the studied area, such as ethnographers and indigenous anthropologists, because in the collection of native/indigenous peoples classified "ethnicity/people" as " Tribe, "a rude mistake.

  • I tried to get to know the place, but it was closed during the whole year-end period, when the city was crowded with tourists! Unfortunate!

  • The Rosemeire who is responsible for receiving the money from the entrance, receives the people of face tied, without patience, does not stimulate the visitation. Just a guide to tour the museum, which when you are on holiday, the space depends on the information of the rosemeire itself or of the staff of the library. No one in the environment is positioned as much as the importance of visitors. Dress up apatic and seemingly unwilling employees to keep a place in the visitation. The employee of the Kel library, it was that led us to space, very kindly taking the doubts, in the rest we sighted apathy, perhaps due to the discouragement of the little flow at the site. Unfortunately, there is more disclosures and interest from Alagoano himself.
