Zerao Stadium, Macapa

Originally, this multi-purpose stadium was named after Formula 1 driver, and Brazilian hero, Ayrton Senna but after the death of the Amapá State Football Federation’s former president, Milton de Souza Corrêa, it was renamed in his honor. However, it is known locally as Zerao Stadium, with the name--and subsequent fame--coming from the unusual circumstance that the midfield line supposedly lies exactly on the Equator, thus causing each team to defend one hemisphere. The Zerão stadium is located in Macapá, with the dividing line of the field the line of Ecuador, because of this the teams play one in the northern hemisphere and the other in the southern hemisphere. It's too bad state of maintenance is not up to the importance of this monument there.

The State does not have a very strong football. So it's more common for people to root for teams from other States. Is rarely used and is in need of maintenance. The structure and good, but careless. Speciality: line the midfield is "on top" of the line of Ecuador

Public Stadium amapaense that has the line of the middle ground exactly where the line of Ecuador. The entry was extremely easy and very welcoming staff. The stadium is maintained and is a good traction for anyone who likes football.

Where to stay in Macapa

Macapa offers a relatively small variety of mid-range hotels and accommodation options. As this isn’t a common backpacker town, you may have trouble finding hotel staff who speak English, so come prepared to speak some basic Portuguese or bring a good phrase book. Look for accommodations in the center of the city to be within walking distance to most attractions, or stay near one of the few roads into town.
