Zerao Stadium, Macapa

Categories: Tourist Spots, Arenas & Stadiums
Inspirock Rating:
1.7/5 based on 160+ reviews on the web
Originally, this multi-purpose stadium was named after Formula 1 driver, and Brazilian hero, Ayrton Senna but after the death of the Amapá State Football Federation’s former president, Milton de Souza Corrêa, it was renamed in his honor. However, it is known locally as Zerao Stadium, with the name--and subsequent fame--coming from the unusual circumstance that the midfield line supposedly lies exactly on the Equator, thus causing each team to defend one hemisphere. • The stadium is crossed by the equator, this is a show, each team stays in one hemisphere of the Earth.

  • Good facilities, but I didn't think it was too big. Ample parking. Well maintained. I liked because it lies between the two hemispheres.

  • What is interesting in the fact that the halfway line coincides with the equator. That is, the day of the game, each team plays in a hemisphere. And a player can, in the same match, score in the northern hemisphere and the South.
