Categories: Geologic Formations, Nature & Parks
Inspirock Rating:
3.4/5 based on 100+ reviews on the web
Although only discovered in 2005, Serra das Paridas is considered one of Brazil's most important archaeological sites because of its remarkable preservation. The rocks at Paridas are covered with hundreds of prehistoric paintings, including human and animal figures, geometric shapes, and even unknown shapes resembling UFOs. Different layers of graphics suggest that the site was used by different groups in successive time periods, with current estimates suggesting the 'artists' lived some 9,000 to 12,000 years ago. Most visits to the site are followed by a trip to the nearby Mosquito Waterfall. Put Serra das Paridas at the forefront of your travel plans using our Lencois tour planner.

  • Archaeological site discovered by hunters. There are a number of cave drawings. If you're one who likes to do the imagination travel is a good place. Most drawings alludes partos hence the name. There are also designs that hark back to an alleged flying saucer.

  • The site is very interesting and easy to access. Unfortunately there aren't many explanations of the primitive pituras, or about the people who performed, or an appropriate structural support. I'm glad we had a great guide.
