Serra das Paridas, Lencois

(3.5/5 based on 110+ reviews on the web)
Although only discovered in 2005, Serra das Paridas is considered one of Brazil's most important archaeological sites because of its remarkable preservation. The rocks at Paridas are covered with hundreds of prehistoric paintings, including human and animal figures, geometric shapes, and even unknown shapes resembling UFOs. Different layers of graphics suggest that the site was used by different groups in successive time periods, with current estimates suggesting the 'artists' lived some 9,000 to 12,000 years ago. Most visits to the site are followed by a trip to the nearby Mosquito Waterfall. Put Serra das Paridas at the forefront of your travel plans using our Lencois tour planner.

  • For those who like to know more about the prehistory and interested in understanding a little about the people who lived in the region for thousands of years ago, the ride is extremely valid. It's a real natural history class to open. The local guide and protector, Railton, is a unique figure and certainly added a lot to the tour. To get is not very difficult and when we went on the road was in very good condition, despite being from Earth.

  • A trip to the past, in a wonderful place. The site has dozens of paintings scattered through the hills. A true patrimony of humanity. Should have the attention it deserves.

  • You hear about in early cave paintings and for me to finally see them up close was a fascinating experience. A walk recommended not only to those who study the subject, but for anyone. Will surely be enriching. I was in a group with three people and pay real daily guide 80 (Railton, a piece of work!), and this value pro group, and 20 more per person (from the entrance). Ride more than recommended. Beautiful, striking and interesting site to understand more of humanity and your relationship with nature.
