Ribeirao do Meio, Lencois

(700+ reviews on the web)
Waterfall
It may take some finding (try asking a local), but Ribeirao do Meio and its surrounding swimming holes are well worth the short trek it takes to get there. If you work up a sweat on the way there, a dip in the cool waters will soon freshen you up. The waterfall itself is a huge sheet of rock, lying diagonally, which makes for a perfect, natural waterslide. The spot is peaceful, and secluded, and there is a good chance you will have it to yourself. Keep an eye out for locals, however, as they may be selling freshly squeezed sugar cane juice. Put Ribeirao do Meio at the forefront of your travel plans using our Lencois holiday planner.

  • One of the easiest trails of High for sure. 3 km practically straight, clod, pretty and with two stops to rest. Large swimming pools with nice places to rest, water less icy than normal in the region. Very relaxing!

  • When we got there, there was nobody. Only my family and the Guide! Very good!!! My 6-year-old twins learned soon as should climb without slipping and how (and where) they should slip. The water is freezing! Just cold! And it's dark! But the place is so beautiful! Pure nature! I went down sometimes slipping and my family too! TIP: the good is to go with a short thick and beaten because he can rip with the friction on the rocks! Look at my husband.

  • Without a doubt he was one of the best places I have visited in the Chapada Diamantina! 5 km trail is a little tiring going but on the way back you return energized! Also along the route you will have contact with the local flora and will feature "support points" where you can get some rest and eat/drink in the tents.
