Jericoacoara National Park, Jijoca de Jericoacoara

4.9
Often cited by travel magazines as one of the most beautiful beaches in the world, Jericoacoara National Park consists of blue lagoons, calm seas, and huge dunes of fine gray sand. You can windsurf or sail here, or relax on the dunes of this virgin beach as the sun sinks slowly into the ocean. Be sure to make a short trip to Lagoa Azul, a stunning freshwater lagoon. This entire area was declared an Environmental Protection Zone in 1984, and it became a national park in 2002. Restrictions on building and development have helped keep the beach secluded and peaceful. The illumination of the streets is forbidden by local law, so street lights are still provided by the moon and the stars. • Worth knowing, but get ready to walk. Recommend going down the beach, as will many landscapes and back of wagon. Around the Sun is quite strong and usually hit the fatigue of the journey.

  • The beach town of Jeri is situated in a national park. Transfer from the bus station in Jijoca is now done by a convoy of 4 x 4's instead of the big open air bus that was formerly used for the one hou...  more »
  • I went to pedra furada ATV up to a certain point and dps a +-1 km walk from the beach. It is possible to go to the pedra furada of Jeri walking on the beach (see tide) or handsaw, just be prepared to walk a lot, take water and disposal. The pedra furada itself is very pretty, but at least at the time I was at sunset, becomes very crowded and formed huge queues to get a picture in stone lol the view of beach with shape qqer stone is wonderful, super paid off and it was a ride nice mto

Where to stay in Jericoacoara

As part of a national park, building restrictions in Jericoacoara keep all new constructions within strict guidelines. As a result, the pousadas (guesthouses) here are squat and rustic, in keeping with the remote, paradisal charm of the place. Despite its isolation and small permanent population, Jericoacoara's tourism infrastructure has grown markedly in recent years, adding lots of pousadas to the main village. Ranging from luxury options with pools and other amenities, to simple rooms in humble abodes, you'll find accommodations to suit various budgets and tastes. Book in advance, especially for peak season (December to February).
