Jericoacoara National Park, Jijoca de Jericoacoara

4.9
#5 of 27 in Nature in State of Ceara
Often cited by travel magazines as one of the most beautiful beaches in the world, Jericoacoara National Park consists of blue lagoons, calm seas, and huge dunes of fine gray sand. You can windsurf or sail here, or relax on the dunes of this virgin beach as the sun sinks slowly into the ocean. Be sure to make a short trip to Lagoa Azul, a stunning freshwater lagoon. This entire area was declared an Environmental Protection Zone in 1984, and it became a national park in 2002. Restrictions on building and development have helped keep the beach secluded and peaceful. The illumination of the streets is forbidden by local law, so street lights are still provided by the moon and the stars. The reach Jeri is not so easy, I think it's a great thing because it ensures the quality and the peace of the place. The beaches are beautiful, the late afternoon is an attraction in itself. View the sunset is mandatory. Type a must! Who likes to practice water sports, there is the perfect place. I want to come other times!

The place is beautiful. Dunes and lagoons make up a scenario of great nature. Got mules walking loose. Worth knowing. It has to be in bugue, car 4 x 4 or ATV because the terrain is very rugged and with plenty of sand.

Where to stay in Jericoacoara

As part of a national park, building restrictions in Jericoacoara keep all new constructions within strict guidelines. As a result, the pousadas (guesthouses) here are squat and rustic, in keeping with the remote, paradisal charm of the place. Despite its isolation and small permanent population, Jericoacoara's tourism infrastructure has grown markedly in recent years, adding lots of pousadas to the main village. Ranging from luxury options with pools and other amenities, to simple rooms in humble abodes, you'll find accommodations to suit various budgets and tastes. Book in advance, especially for peak season (December to February).
