Set within a national park, Jericoacoara Beach stretches as far as the eye can see, attracting surfers, kitesurfers, and nature-lovers. Sand dunes border the pristine beach, which features blue lagoons, interesting rock formations, and stretches of gold sand. Protected against development since 1984, the scenery here inspired The Washington Post to rank it as one of the world's top ten beaches. Nearby attractions include a rustic fishing village and a dune from which you can watch the sun sinking into the ocean at sunset. Expect to travel a ways to get here, including 45 minutes off-road. • It was my third time in Jeri and definitely recommend running from holidays. The other two times I've been there in the Carnival and new year's Eve and the city, always very busy, loses a little charm on these occasions. Nevertheless, there's always a lot of options for food and lodging. The beach is shallow, very calm and without waves. Great for kids and teenagers. There on the beach rental options SUP boards ... many hawkers on the beach, what bothers you a little bit, but nothing to ruin the tour. At night the city is beautiful and worth a stroll through the streets. If you go by car, you have to leave your car in the parking lot that costs 20 a day and there's a permanence rating for 5 person reais per day. There's no need to drive to get to know the city and the most distant rides can be hired with local guides. A lot of summer clothes and slippers are sufficient. All the streets are of sand.

  • The beach is very close to the village, and the access is easy. Has many stalls selling a variety of drinks. The downside is that due to the large turnover of tourists, the beach is very dirty.

Where to stay in Jericoacoara

As part of a national park, building restrictions in Jericoacoara keep all new constructions within strict guidelines. As a result, the pousadas (guesthouses) here are squat and rustic, in keeping with the remote, paradisal charm of the place. Despite its isolation and small permanent population, Jericoacoara's tourism infrastructure has grown markedly in recent years, adding lots of pousadas to the main village. Ranging from luxury options with pools and other amenities, to simple rooms in humble abodes, you'll find accommodations to suit various budgets and tastes. Book in advance, especially for peak season (December to February).
