Outdoor Activity
Mangue Seco is a beach village in Jandaíra, Bahia, Brazil. It is very famous in Brazil because of a soap-opera (telenovela) adaptation of the novel Tieta do Agreste, by the Brazilian writer Jorge Amado, which was shot on its white beaches in 1996.LocationIt is located in the northern coast of the state of Bahia, very close to the border with the state of Sergipe. Actually, the city lies near the river that marks the border between the two states, the Real River. It is located about 80 km southwest from the city of Aracaju (Sergipe's capital). It can be reached by a 15-min boat trip from three different ports: Porto do Mato, Terra Caida and Pontal.TourismThe village itself consists of a small fishermen village, and has approximately 300 inhabitants. Among the main touristic attractions are the beaches, the buggy trips on the sand dunes and the small, typical Brazilian church.

  • We were supposed to stay one day and I ended up staying 3 nights. One day, instead of going around with the bird cars, we rented a boat and went visiting the ilha da sogra and around. Worth it. Three ...  more »
  • You know that paradise that stopped in time? Then, Mangue Seco is so like scenic city of film, where the scenery is breathtaking, the desire to sleep in those deserted beaches somewhere, just to see the starry sky. On one side of the River lies the Bahia and Sergipe, on the other hand is worth spending a couple of days, turn the phone off and feel how good it is to places where the imperfection of consumption and of civilization has not yet arrived.

  • What a wonderful place! Ride of a lifetime for those who are in Aracaju! We went by car (1 hour) to a place where we took boat to go to the Islands. Arriving there, we hired a buggy ride which was great! The dunes are not very large so the kids don't get scared. The scenery from the top of the dunes is beautiful, one of the most beautiful I've ever seen! The buggy after strolling the beach, which is very good, and for the reataurante of Mrs. Raimunda. We get her on the beach for about 4 hours, love! The beach was virtually deserted, with no one (we went on a Wednesday). Best ride I did on the trip!

  • Worth the ride. The view is wonderful and makes us forget any kind of problem. But I think the price of meals somewhat salty, literally are not for any pocket.

  • Place a lot of sand. Rrrrrss But have the buggy trips that you can have some magnificent photos. The beach it's no big deal. The staff of the tent is very good!

  • I didn't much like. Could be better exploited. Beautiful nature but without structure for tourism.

  • Enchanting natural beauty. Buggy rides and Quads (guided and with stops in some viewpoints) on the dunes of "tieta" are the major attractions of the place. 40 km of beautiful beaches makes the ride worth tb.

  • North of Bahia, being a place of mangroves and dunes furniture a real paradise where you will find peace.
