Quartel de Itu, Itu
(4.5/5 based on 50 reviews on the web)
If you're interested in Brazilian military history, you should stop in at Quartel de Itu while you're in Itu. Home to the Quartel Duque de Caxias museum and an impressive collection of old photographs, the building served as a barracks for the Diodorus Regiment military unit starting in 1918. Before then, it housed about 400 students of the College of St. Louis. In the museum, you'll find numerous artifacts of early 20th-century Brazilian history, such as uniforms and weaponry. Jesuit priests orginally built Quartel de Itu in 1867, so the complex contains a church in addition to the musuem and barracks. • I think it's a place to visit because it's wonderful architecture, everything is beautiful because it always brings me good memories, but worth a visit!

  • Anyone passing by Itu (and the Church is opened or having any mass) worth knowing is very pretty and organized! I had to go a few times at Headquarters is the soldiers and lieutenants are always very cordial. The only downside is that the Church is always open and the "keepers" that are asking you to look at the car right in front of the barracks, I find it very inconvenient and some measure should be taken.

  • People are very polite and helpful. The Headquarters holds a fantastic collection of our history that deserves to be seen by everyone. In this occasion I visited only a small part and certainly will schedule the full tour because I can't wait to bring my son back to the site he was delighted to put one of the helmets used in one of the missions of the United Nations (Blue Bonnet), it was exciting.
