Tourist Spot
If you're interested in Brazilian military history, you should stop in at Quartel de Itu while you're in Itu. Home to the Quartel Duque de Caxias museum and an impressive collection of old photographs, the building served as a barracks for the Diodorus Regiment military unit starting in 1918. Before then, it housed about 400 students of the College of St. Louis. In the museum, you'll find numerous artifacts of early 20th-century Brazilian history, such as uniforms and weaponry. Jesuit priests orginally built Quartel de Itu in 1867, so the complex contains a church in addition to the musuem and barracks. • Occupying a large area near the central area of the city is this army headquarters, which also houses a Museum and a beautiful church. Example of discipline, organization and preservation of the historical heritage of Brazil.

  • I think it's a place to visit because it's wonderful architecture, everything is beautiful because it always brings me good memories, but worth a visit!

  • Anyone passing by Itu (and the Church is opened or having any mass) worth knowing is very pretty and organized! I had to go a few times at Headquarters is the soldiers and lieutenants are always very cordial. The only downside is that the Church is always open and the "keepers" that are asking you to look at the car right in front of the barracks, I find it very inconvenient and some measure should be taken.
