Museu da Energia de Itu is dedicated to the history of electricity of Brazil. Located within an old mansion from the 18th century, the museum is most famous for an interactive approach to educating the children of all ages how to save energy and preserve the environment. The history of urban and industrial expansion of the city of Sao Paulo in the last 150 years is also explained in the museum’s rooms. The buildings itself is another attraction: the palace was the residence of Henry Santos Dumont, brother of aviator Alberto Santos Dumont and one of the richest men in Brazil at the time.   • 1 hour is enough for the visit. The location offers impeccable surroundings, with excellent maintenance. I went on a day that was going on the "art in the alley", so the Museum was completely free. Upstairs still preserve some furniture and in other areas we can see phones, power meters, light bulbs, lamps etc., which refer to the beginning of the energy in the State.
