Azul Lake, Itatiaia

4.4
#7 of 14 in Parks in Itatiaia
Water Body Nature / Park
Azul Lake is not a lake. It is a large pool of blue water from the stream that runs down the mountain in Itatiaia National Park. In fact there are several such pools along this stream. They are shallow and perfect for a summer swim. Some kiosks are available for refreshments. Plan to see Azul Lake and other attractions that appeal to you using our Itatiaia trip generator.

Where to stay in Itatiaia

Despite being the largest town in the area, Itatiaia offers relatively few places to stay. Your best bet is to look for accommodations in the town center, near Praça da Emancipação, where you'll find a few small hotels and inns. If you want to visit the national park, look for accommodations at the park's entrance, or even inside its boundaries, rather than in town. You can also find a much larger selection of accommodations in Penedo, just a few kilometers down the road.

  • Super cold ... really blue. You go down a trail or a staircase of more than 100 steps but it is super worth it. Place too beautiful
