Ilha do Guajiru, Itarema

(4.2/5 based on 75+ reviews on the web)
Although it is called an island, Ilha do Guajiru is actually a lush peninsula, once used as a coconut plantation, and covered in Guajirú bushes--the sweet, red berries that give the area its name. The year-round sunshine that once attracted the coconut farmers, today attracts beach-goers and lovers of watersports. A long spit of sand, running parallel to the beach, creates a calm lagoon, which is perfect for kitesurfing, windsurfing, kayaking and swimming. On land, you can explore the green island by foot, cycle, or quad, or simply stretch out on the pristine, white sands. • On the other hand only hostels for gringos and kite surfers. On the other side the entrance to the river and local fishermen. The Next island-which is not an island, it is an isthmus-is a awesome site. The part of the river is quieter and has less activity of kitesurfing. Be careful with the living waters in some seasons.

  • Nice place, quiet and cosy. Best place to spend a honeymoon or even to travel, pitiful.

  • Top spot. Had a great time here. Exactly what we were looking for. Easy, calm and familiar. With Gabriele and Stella in the Col we welcoming hosts found do Vento. Best location of the pousada and enough space... ;-)
