A historic place that shows us the colonizaçaõ of the South coast of São Paulo by the Jesuits. A location with a wonderful energy, where you relive the saga of these Pathfinders. A place of faith and with a wonderful view of the city of Itanhaém and its beaches. Some tips, if you go with small children be careful at the rise of the Hill, because it has few protections and if older people go very slowly because the climb is pretty tiring,

One of the first churches of Brazil. Dated 1532 (year of Foundation of the city), is listed by the Instituto do Patrimônio Histórico e Artístico Nacional (Iphan), although the current building we visited date of 1713, i.e. has 300 years. As a lover of history, I can't help but show the Convento Nossa Senhora da Conceição to people who visit New Delhi for the first time. Too bad that an accident with a torch to ward off bats in the 19th century destroyed part of the convent. Impresses the resistance, with walls lined with whale oil. The climb is steep, and access for wheelchair users is quite complicated. Not to be missed! If you like history, must-visit. $5.00 fee to visit.

The convent is part of the history of Brazil and of your religious faith from its discoverers of Baroque origin, ... in the Church we have free access and on the side there is a roulette where is charged the value of 5.00 real where we have access to other top dependências...de have a view of the historic centre and the beach ... is a very interesting visit.. Recommend comfortable shoes and appropriate for ascent to the convent that has a slope.

Where to stay in Itanhaem

As you'd expect in a town popular for its beaches, the greatest number of accommodations in Itanhaem do their best to get as close to the golden sands and sea as possible. These range from upmarket beach club hotels and resorts offering private beaches and bars with sea views, to simple, unfussy bed and breakfasts located beachside. Follow the river inland to find resort-style accommodations surrounded by the lush vegetation and tropical feel of the Atlantic Forest. To get out into the region's formidable rural areas, consider staying at one of the motels along Rodovia Padre Manoel da Nobrega, the main road for heading in and out of town.
