  • First town hall and jail of our country. For those who like history, obligatory stop. You pay a small fee to visit, but it's worth it. The comments of the visitors speak for me. Recommend.

  • A great ride. Fast and cheap. At the top of the House, historical information, newspapers and old photos that help tell the origin of Itanhaém. At the bottom of the construction the old prison cells. All very well maintained. On our visit we had monitors but was quiet and we were able to walk freely.

  • Historic heritage, is located in the central square, opposite the Church. To access the cells is necessary to climb a ladder. To know it is necessary to pay the ticket, they say to the man cell is turned to the sea, to see who had lost your freedom and to the woman the cell was facing the convent, where they could be acquittal if turn nuns.

Where to stay in Itanhaem

As you'd expect in a town popular for its beaches, the greatest number of accommodations in Itanhaem do their best to get as close to the golden sands and sea as possible. These range from upmarket beach club hotels and resorts offering private beaches and bars with sea views, to simple, unfussy bed and breakfasts located beachside. Follow the river inland to find resort-style accommodations surrounded by the lush vegetation and tropical feel of the Atlantic Forest. To get out into the region's formidable rural areas, consider staying at one of the motels along Rodovia Padre Manoel da Nobrega, the main road for heading in and out of town.
