Juliao Beach, Ilhabela

4.6
After following a hidden trail, you will emerge from the dense forest onto Juliao Beach, a beautiful white sandy beach with clear, calm water studded with huge, semi-submerged rocks. Close to the shore, these form secluded pools in which you can fully unwind. Paddleboards and kayaks are available to rent on the beach, and you can explore the two small islets not far from the beach. As nesting ground for seabirds, access is prohibited but donning a snorkel, you can dive beneath the surface and see an amazing display of tropical fish, turtles, and rays. The friendly owners of Prainha do Julião make delicious seafood risotto that you can enjoy, listening to their eclectic selection of CDs. • To get to the beach it is necessary to go through a small track, very beautiful. The beach is great and with plenty of shady trees, is worth the visit.

  • I didn't like the beach, I think there's much better places on the island, I went because I checked a lot of positive reviews and met my expectations, despite not being considered for child my daughters didn't like

  • The beach does not have the same access than the beaches and even the same structure. To get there you have to walk about 200 metres among the Woods in a way preserved and paved. The beach is only a stall that sells drinks, I didn't consume so I don't know what the price base. Advise who go to this beach that take it all home (Chair, umbrella, drinks, etc) watch out for the black flies which are voracious

  • I found the best beach in Ilhabela, access is very easy with ramp for wheelchair access, the beach is beautiful with clean water and full of fish. There are enough stones that result in beautiful pictures, and the sand trees that make you exempt guarda-so, and still has people renting kayak with great price. Only con is that there's plenty of mosquito, don't forget to take mosquito repellent.

  • Wonderful, clean sand beach, clear water, fine green and quiet, many colourful fish, beautiful people and too many families with young children. Perfect place to relax and enjoy the sea. Julian's restaurant has impeccable service and delicious dishes. I loved and I will be back soon. Indian Super. ...

  • Very well frequented. Many families and people seeking rest and fun. Beach without waves. Restrictions on the number of parking spaces. I paid $15. But, I was lucky to find a parking space, access to the beach. We noticed a few mosquitoes, even the shade of trees. I recommend you take parasol and chairs. And, wouldn't go amiss, a thermal bag with drinks. The kiosks are disputadíssimos. Abuse photos. The place deserves.

Where to stay in Ilhabela

With much of the island protected against overdevelopment, all but a handful of accommodations are found on the western coast of Ilhabela. There, upscale hotels with plenty of private grounds lie to the north or south of the main town. Look in the town itself for the main budget-friendly options, with characterful pousadas (guesthouses) the most popular option. The island can be pretty busy during peak seasons (especially summer, December to March), so booking ahead is essential. With the mainland so close, you can easily hop on the ferry back to Sao Sebastiao to sleep.
