Gato Waterfall, Ilhabela

4.7
#2 of 7 in Nature in Ilhabela
After a two hour jeep ride and a forty minute trek through the jungle, you will come upon Gato Waterfall. It is an ideal spot for enjoying the best of Brazil's natural wonders: a beach, a waterfall, and a jungle are grouped together here in a sublime collection of creation. When the waterfall's flow is weak, you can swim under the water and let the pressure massage you, or as the Brazilians say 'let the water wash your soul.' The locals that occupy the area are fishermen that have lived here simply, without electricity or modern amenities, for many years. They take great pride in the falls and are happy to share it with conscientious visitors. Put Gato Waterfall into our Ilhabela day trip planner and find out what's close by, where to stay, and where to head next.

Linda waterfall but lotaaaada of black flies! But the ride is pretty cool, we cross the Castilian Park and waterfall that gets in the way, very cool, but prepares that tires well. hahaha

No doubt super recommend this tour, being in the middle of nature and still find this waterfall is surprising. Get ready to walk, but be sure to go with a bathing suit because she asks for a dip.

To get to the trail, 4 x 4 only. We went to c the staff of sea and sea, c the Jeep driver and guide Louis, super nice and attentive. The trail was not very hard to do, the guide helped us, at all times, both on the way up to the waterfall qto within the waterfall, where stepping and giving tips p the pictures stay good. Thanks for the ride!

Where to stay in Ilhabela

With much of the island protected against overdevelopment, all but a handful of accommodations are found on the western coast of Ilhabela. There, upscale hotels with plenty of private grounds lie to the north or south of the main town. Look in the town itself for the main budget-friendly options, with characterful pousadas (guesthouses) the most popular option. The island can be pretty busy during peak seasons (especially summer, December to March), so booking ahead is essential. With the mainland so close, you can easily hop on the ferry back to Sao Sebastiao to sleep.
