Abraao Cove, Ilha Grande

(3.9/5 based on 120+ reviews on the web)
Situated between high mountains emerging from the sea is Abraao Cove, a piece of paradise surrounded by the lush greenery of the Atlantic Forest. This is not a beach ideal for swimming but rather a great place to relax, have dinner, and enjoy a beer or nice caipirinha (a popular Brazilian cocktail made with rum, sugar and lime) while listening to the samba or other Brazilian music being played by the locals. Snorkeling will allow you to explore the small cave with the brilliant light from the ocean illuminating its crevices and to take in the sights of the natural aquarium.

The best way to reach the island is by Angra dos Reis, a two-hour dirve from Rio. From there you can take the hour-long ferry ride across, but keep in mind that the ferry is actually a small boat that carries about 30-40 passengers. You can view the schedule on Ilha Grande’s website, but keep in mind that the boat might not leave at exactly that time. Consider hiring private transport and book them for your return as taxi service does not exist in town. • Billed 20.00 to get in there and go down the stairs by a hole between rocks on the floor, completely in the dark (use flashlights and cell phones) and then Crouch and crawl the cobblestone. The vision of the fluorescent light beam is beautiful but you can't see anything else there.

  • You pay $20 to get in the cave that is in a private property. The access can be done by boat or trail. I went by boat. I went in a day with many clouds, which leaves water in tom green. On sunny days the water gets more to the Sun by a crack where you have a stepladder, super tight, I had to go sideways. The cricket (owner of site) lead the way with a flashlight. The height of the passage must be at least 60 cm, you need to go through the darkness, but quickly squatting is compensated by fluorescent water, I never seen that tonality in life. The water isn't so cold. For those with claustrophobia or not feeling well in dark places, is not recommended

  • A tour not to be missed. There are no pictures that can express the beauty that's in there. That requires some care, as the height between floor and ceiling is very low. Upon arrival we found a huge lounge with clear water. She is below the sea and with reflections of greenish light road. Just watching!! Super recommend!
