With few waves and vast area of sand ideal for leaving the children at home, the day we were there the beach was very clean, my favorite Beach on ilha do mel. And at the top of the lighthouse beyond the wonderful view if you get lucky you can have the company of beautiful birds.

Hello guys! I'm not going to evaluate every beach we know (me and my husband) on Ilha do Mel attraction to attraction, but rather do a panorama of how we performed in 2 days the visits to the main points of interest. Sorry textão but our intention is to try to get the most of our experience as we know the attractions on Ilha do Mel. What's the best way to meet the Lighthouse from the shells, the fortress our Lady Of Pleasures and the cave of the charmed ones, as well as the main beaches? It will depend on where you are staying. In our case we chose Encantadas, because we prioritize ease in search for food at night since there are several restaurants on the edge. Then, from there, if you want to know the lighthouse and the fortress there are 2 options: first – if you're not too fond of long walks on the beach, or up and down hill and stones, I suggest TAKE a BOAT in the Enchanted and go to Pier Brasilia where the trails are much smaller and lighter. The boat leaves every hour and has the value of $10.00/person – mid-September 2017. Maybe in high season time is less. The crossing lasts on average 25 to 30 min. In the trapiche in Brasilia just ask the trail to the lighthouse from the shells. To get to the Lighthouse itself has already been spoken you need to climb a staircase-and it's true! -with some heights for rest. During the ascent you already enjoy and take some pictures. The Lighthouse itself is a milestone but the visual that glimpsed around is that it's pretty cool. Looking at the front have Praia de Fora, Praia Grande and Praia do Miguel to the right and to the left of the Lighthouse Beach, beach of the isthmus and the fortress. Tired?? So let see the fortress on the other day, but if you're in the mood, from there you can follow to the fortress. You descend the staircase and there you will be able to choose: GO TOTALLY by the BEACH if the tide is low, passing by Praia do Farol-very good!, the isthmus (cross a riozinho before) and the beach of Fortaleza. Will arrive on a wooden ladder. Ready! Upstairs you have enter the Fortress. I'm sure you'll like it! While there, be sure to do the trail of 500 m to the Hill of the whale (sign). Easy trail with visual pretty at the end; Or GO PARTLY on the BEACH – after the isthmus you will get an internal track (well-marked and easy) between the native vegetation that has plenty of shade. At the end you will return to the beach and will rise to such a wooden ladder. Have indicative boards. second-if you are of those who like hiking, has layout and legs, my tip is, in the morning, with low tide, check out the CHARMED ONES for the trail, next to the Eclipse Bar and follow towards the Hill of SOAP (the trail is well marked). Trail of the hills there is another that leads to an end to the sea – Tip Nhá Pina (haven't been to this part). When down the Hill you'll be on the beach of Miguel. Very cute and no one. Just us! At the end of this beach to continue with the trail and reach the beach following it complicates: even at low tide you will need to go through some rocks that will require some preparation. Watch out! Almost gave up, because we don't give to pass, but we found a group of ladies from the region who were also doing the trail, and the follow up and down the rocks until we find a stone left that formed a crack where you'll have to go sideways. If we weren't with them I think we would have back thinking that the path was over. After going through this crack the most difficult part of the trail on the stones is over. Phew!! We now come in Praia Grande-a stretch of sand. We continued down the beach until we get on the track to the Lighthouse. The plates in the confused. So we asked the trail for some people living on the island. When we saw the staircase we knew it was there. Well, from there the route follows what I'm saying on the first option. The path between ida-the beach, visit the lighthouse and the fortress – and back to the pier of Brasilia for the return the charmed ones have about 13 km. As were mid-September (low season), we didn't see any stalls in any of the BEACHES for which WE PASSED. Please don't forget to bring water, pass protector, because there is no shade on this route, and careful in November because it is the period in which there are many horseflies (or butucas), which are hematófagas flies. Use a good insect repellent. If you are staying in Brasilia the trails will be there waiting for you cool! -The cave of the charmed ones? This you know easily! If you are staying in just follow the beach charmed ones, to the right of the trapiche-sense landing – until the sign indicating the trail. A snap! If the tide is low you arrive at the entrance to the cave on the beach, which is the sea outside. If the tide is high, there is a wooden walkway that will take you to the stones of the entrance of the cave. Both the Sea outside as the cave are beautiful. Also there is no shade on the Outside (or tents) at the time that we went. If you are staying in Brasilia there is 2 options: take a boat to the charmed ones and follow what we say or do that trail down the beach in reverse (that of the stones!!!!). So if you want to meet the 3 main attractions of the island and still get a little beach is just mount your script! I hope it helped you!

Where to stay in Ilha do Mel

Ilha do Mel's accommodations lie within the villages of Nova Brasilia and Praia do Farol, just south of the island's thinnest stretch, and the village of Encantadas, located at the island's southernmost tip. You'll find a good range of budget and luxury options in each, with campsites and simple guesthouses farther inland, and upmarket resort-style accommodations usually enjoying beachside locations. Many of the island's places to stay operate only during the summer peak season (December to March), so do check the availability before making plans.
