  • It is the remains of a Jesuit ruins on top of a hill with beautiful view to the sea of fresh water (?). Next has a small church that was closed when I went. The ruins are of the Jesuits who were expelled the Cannonball of the place. I believe that if there there was a working archaeological dig, still bring a lot of new information about the site, as well as it would be important to have some explanatory text, because the site works see and deduce yourself.

  • For us tourists, the island of Marajó basically has two cities to visit. One is where the Soure of the catamaran company Tapajós makes first stop and the other city is Salvaterra which lies across the river Paracauari. From Salvaterra to the ruins of Joanes are 18 km or about half an hour by taxi. The ruins are at the top of a hill where you will find a beautiful beach that was deserted when we went. Next to the Jesuit ruins is the new Church of the Rosary and worth the visit for the story, but there's nothing else around.

  • Although not an entire site for visitation, after all are ruins, has a spectacular view, who like pictures will find interesting.
