There you'll find plenty of accommodations--a significantly better selection than on the mainland--ranging from budget guesthouses and hostels to luxury hotels. Many guests, however, choose to take advantage of the island's charming nature by staying away from the city center, in the lakeside district of Lagoa da Conceição. For easy access to the best surf beaches on the island, stay a couple miles farther away at Mole Beach or Barra da Lagoa.
