(4.7/5 based on 50+ reviews on the web)
Superagüi National Park is a national park of Brazil. It is located along the coast of the state of Paraná.Created in 1998, the park has a total area of 34,000 ha, it comprises Supearagui island, Peças Island, Pinheiro and Pinheirinho Islands, along with the Rio dos Patos valley and the Varadouro Channel, which separates the island from the mainland.Superagui National Park was declared a Biosphere Reservation by UNESCO in 1991. In 1999, the park was declared a World Heritage Site. The park has bays, deserted beaches, sandbanks, estuaries, mangroves and abundant Atlantic Forest formations. The park is the primary habitat of the critically endangered Superagui Lion Tamarin, and hosts many other flora and fora characteristic of the Serra do Mar subregion of the Atlantic Forest.HistoryEvidence indicates that the area has been occupied by fishermen since time immemorial. Prior to the arrival of Europeans it was inhabited by Carijós and Tupiniquins Indians. Portuguese settled in the area from 1500 on, did not build cities. In 1852, the Swiss consul in Rio de Janeiro, Perret Gentil, founded Supeargui Island, one of the first European colonies in the state of Paraná, however, the colony has not grown, and today the few villages that are within the park have only a few inhabitants, fishermen heirs of the 15 families brought by the consul to live in Superagui Island.

  • Superagui and peace go together ... However currently are needed a few kilometers of walking on the beach to reach them. A few years ago, the population of the island increased disproportionately to investments in infrastructure, which, in a way comes damaging socio-environmental conditions of the region. A shame, as this ends up hurting his image. I've been on the island in early 2016 on vacation for a few days with the family. At the time my daughter was 4 years old and we chose to host us at an Inn near the ferry along the main village of fishermen. The Inn where we stayed, was one of the medians in terms of daily values. Most hostels are built in wood which in summer are extremely warm. For ease, give preference to larger rooms with good fans. Another detail that left me disappointed with the fishing village, was with the droppings of horses and dogs on the beach. Even if that wasn't enough, the fishermen discard leftover fish and shrimp on the beach causing a terrible odor of decaying fish. Another problem we face in staying in the village, was the loud sound. In summer, the locals make their parties with sound above the permitted and that run through dawn inside, disrespecting those who want a good sleep during the hot summer nights. Out all these mishaps, the Superagui island is very large and is excellent for hiking, bikes, boat trips, camping, photos and fandango. To get to the island have a row boat out of Paranagua and back the other or day (check the times and days on the site of the city of Paranaguá) or maritime transfers out of Guaraqueçaba. Important Tip: take money on paper, since most of the establishments and transport do not work with credit or debit cards. I hope to come back soon with my eldest daughter to then walk muiiiitooooo and reach that peace that Supergui provides!!!!

  • The Superagui National Park, are in the town of Guaraqueçaba, northern coast of the State of Paraná. The main traditional fishing economy. As of 2008, became popular on the island the use nagsudarshan foil for aging of spirits distilled from sugar cane, the drinks are delicious and very popular with tourists. Has 32 km of beach, where also lies the deserted Beach, whose end the rim is bordered by the State of São Paulo in Brazil. Be sure to know.

We spent Christmas this year in Superagui. As mentioned in another review, the reception is not as warm as in other places and this happens because it's a place of simple people, where the heart speaks louder than the reception courses from SENAC and the like. People are shy, and are mostly fishermen and natives of the island, but they always find five minutes to talk to anyone landing in the warehouse. It's all very simple because there is no property speculation, residents raised their own hostels. It is a place for the soul. If looking for a place where all the topics of the manual 'how to receive your tourist' are followed to the letter, go to the Ilha do Mel/ Honey Island (preferably with the pockets full of money)!
