Guarapari

Endowed with white sand beaches and inviting waters, Guarapari encapsulates Brazil's laid-back beach spirit. Home to more than 100,000 residents, the small but well-developed coastal city sees large influxes of tourists during the holiday season, as people from all corners of the country come to relax by the seashore. Interestingly, the city's beaches contain naturally radioactive sand, which registers higher-than-average background radiation readings. Don't be deterred from taking a Guarapari vacation, though--the levels of radiation fall well within the safe exposure range. Take a peek at our international travel planner: Guarapari and its charms laid bare and easily scheduled.

Where to stay in Guarapari

Unsurprisingly, most of the best accommodations in Guarapari lie within a stone's throw of the beach. Just north of the city center, the neighborhood of Praia do Morro offers the largest choice of accommodations, thanks to its proximity to the city's kilometer-long (0.62 mi) curved beach. For luxury options, stay in one of the high-rise hotels on the shorefront, or for budget accommodations, head a few streets back from the water. You can also find plenty of options in the city center and, just to the west, in Parque de Areia Preta.
