While exploring sites on the Rota Romantica scenic route, make a brief stop at Igreja Matriz Sao Pedro Apostolo, Gramado’s imposing Roman Catholic cathedral. Originally built as a small wooden chapel, the building was reconstructed using stone in 1943. The site is noted for its stained glass windows, depicting various events in the life of St Peter’s, the patron saint of the city honored in the cathedral’s name. The building features an open-air gallery displaying statues of the Apostles, and boasts a tower rising 46 m (151 ft) into the air. The cathedral, located in the very heart of the city, is easily accessible form almost anywhere in the area by car or foot.   • Churches and temples are always a interesting place to visit and feel good vibrations and energy. This one is in downtown, is not the biggest I have seen but it's beautiful. And it's very close to go.  more »
