Praia da Ferrugem, Garopaba
(4.5/5 based on 850+ reviews on the web)
In a display of geological beauty, a “lazy river” runs from Laguna de Garopaba to the ocean, separating Praia da Ferrugem from its neighbour, Praia da Barrinha. Towards the end of its course, you will find naturally formed tranquil pools creating a haven in which you can swim. Next to these pools, on the very edge of the beach, you will see El Morro do Indio, an ancient Tupí-Guaraní Indian cemetery, which locals believe has a mystical force. Whether it does or not, climbing to the top will provide you with some fantastic panoramic views of the coastline and the ocean, where you can spot whales as they surface for air. At the other end of the beach, strong waves attract a young surfing crowd with high spirits. There are many of bars, restaurants, and clubs in the vicinity that accommodate to all their guests, so, depending on your preference, you can find a light snacks or a place to party all night long. Both easygoing and energetic, Praia da Ferrugem thrives on its eclectic mix of patrons.
