Parque das Aves, Foz do Iguacu

(19,000+ reviews on the web)
Zoo / Aquarium
The zookeepers at Parque das Aves allow you and your children to come into direct contact with the colorful tropical birds of their conservation project. Located on 16 hectares (40 acres) in the Atlantic rainforest, huge aviaries allow you to watch these majestic winged animals fly. Volunteers and staff had to rescue most of the residents due to animal trafficking or because they were unable to survive in the wild.

Feeding toucans, blue and yellow macaws, parrots, flamingos, lorikeets, and other tropical birds a healthy diet of fresh, organic foods helps them become well again. In addition to birds, butterflies and other animals roam the grounds. Through activities for younger and older children, kids will learn about the center's breeding program that releases the new generation into the wild. • Liked some of the avaries, but thought some were cramped and need some TLC. Ok to while away an hour or so if you have time to spare. Much prefere to see wildlife in natural their habitat  more »

  • A chance to get up close and personal with Toucans and Macaws. Lots of other species as well. I don't particularly like seeing animals in enclosures and a lot of these birds look pretty fed up, but they are looked after very well. That said, it's still fascinating to see them this close. The park does a lot of conservation work with the national park service so there are some positive outcomes.
  • An amazing birds zoo. You enter inside big, really big, cages with lot of bird species inside you can get very close and even touch them. Great forests, great views and a broad variety of birds. Excellent park!
  • I loved this place. The variety of birds is amazing. We could see some from very close. They let us hold one. The toucans very very beautiful. I would greatly recommend it .
  • Awesome place! You can get close to a lot of birds. Most of them are free. You also can go in a huge place with lots of parrots flying around. In the end you can also take a picture with a parrot on your arms. Really great experience.
  • Very well maintained and organized. Beautiful birds, several trained to great you. A must see. Best to travel (if from AR side) in private car, very expensive to add this stop via bus tour!
