Parque das Aves, Foz do Iguacu

4.7
#1 of 3,445 in Outdoors in Brazil
The zookeepers at Parque das Aves allow you and your children to come into direct contact with the colorful tropical birds of their conservation project. Located on 16 hectares (40 acres) in the Atlantic rainforest, huge aviaries allow you to watch these majestic winged animals fly. Volunteers and staff had to rescue most of the residents due to animal trafficking or because they were unable to survive in the wild.

Feeding toucans, blue and yellow macaws, parrots, flamingos, lorikeets, and other tropical birds a healthy diet of fresh, organic foods helps them become well again. In addition to birds, butterflies and other animals roam the grounds. Through activities for younger and older children, kids will learn about the center's breeding program that releases the new generation into the wild. • Park very well structured, with well mounted divisions between types of birds, many explanatory boards, and a hotbed of macaws impressive. Definitely worth a visit, surprised us positively.

  • Have several species of birds, and it is possible to enter in some nurseries and stay close. Well organized and with several employees. Has free parking if you get there early, otherwise the private parking lots charge R $15.00.

  • This is just the best bird park I have ever been to. Unlike other parks and zoo's it's really roomy for birds, some of them live in such "cages" that you can't even see the walls going through them. And those where you can are really spacious. Was an impression of walking in the forest. Is definitely a must even if you are not into these things.
  • Went there once and will definitely go back! All the species are beautiful. The place is well maintained. Parking may be hard to find if you go on the weekend or a busy day BUT is worth it! Price is reasonable.
  • One of the best animal parks/zoos I've ever been to! There were so many Toucans, Macaws, and other parrots that would fly right up to you. Remember to take your camera because you will be able to take lots of amazing photos right up close to the wildlife!
  • Clean, organized and a variety of birds! Place to take the whole family and enjoy a safe day outside. A wonderful experience being able to get so close to nature and smell the green forest that surrounds the whole park....all very well treated.... amazing!!
  • Excellent birds park with big aviaries, and large panel of birds. You can also see butterflies and take pictures with parrots. A nice attraction for everyone.

Where to stay in Foz do Iguacu

Given the one dominant attraction in Foz do Iguacu, it's not surprising that the vast majority of accommodations sit on the south side of town, on the way to the waterfalls. To get as close as possible to the falls, stay in the southern neighborhoods of Jardim Eldorado or Jardim Iguacu. Many of the hotels in those neighborhoods line Avenue das Cataratas, the road that leads all the way to the falls. To get a better feel for the rest of the city, stay in the city center or its next-door neighborhood, Vila Paraguaia. From your hotel near the Parana River, you'll enjoy views over the neighboring city of Ciudad del Este in Paraguay.
