Morro Branco, Fortaleza

4.6
#1 of 154 in Things to do in Fortaleza
Access to Morro Branco is along a gravel road just before descending the hill to reach the beach filled with reddish brown and multi-colored sands that contrast with the azure colored sea. You can rent and take lessons from locals offering buggy rides, four-wheelers, microlight flights, and jangada (boat) rides to local attractions. You can wade across the Rio Chorro at low tide at the far side of the beach, or take a small personal-powered ferry to other beach bars, called barracas. This beach is a favorite among locals as well as kitesurfers. Locals show you their handicrafts and arts in hopes that you will by their works, but many of their creations are highly creative in nature. Huge dunes and jagged cliffs dot the shoreline with magnificent and picturesque landscapes that are child-friendly due to the lack of large tourist crowds. Morro Branco is just one of the many highlights you can arrange to see using our online itinerary creator, Fortaleza Edition.

Worth the ride, but only a day is enough. The beach is gorgeous and little explored, the cliffs provide a beautiful contrast of colors and the walk is short, lasts for about 20 minutes. Rent a dune buggy to have access to more locations and a walk through the dunes. Little or no infrastructure of bars, restaurants and bathrooms.

Place delicious! Deserves a day! Make the Buggy Ride in the morning help because the tide is still low and you can do the entire ride down the beach! The stops are phenomenal! First stop is the famous cliffs. Perfect for amazing photos! The last stop is the Lagoa do Uruau. Have a barbecue and a few drinks. You can enjoy in one of the networks that are submerged "Jeri"! Fantastic! The time of the tour is you who determines, as the driver of the Buggy makes the charts and it's up to you how long you want to stay at each point. We did the walk way of Canoa Quebrada and thanks the pit stop! The hint!

Where to stay in Fortaleza

If you want to focus on the historical attractions in Fortaleza, stay in the city center or a nearby neighborhood for easy access. Far more popular, however, is the coastal neighborhood of Praia de Iracema, where you can immerse yourself in the city's beach, restaurant, and nightlife scene. Any number of hotels line the neighborhood's expansive beachfront. For something a bit quieter, but still a stone's throw from the beach, look east to the coastal neighborhoods of De Lourdes and Praia do Futuro II. Thanks to the growing popularity of Fortaleza tourism, you can find a range of budget hostels throughout the city.
