Mercado dos Pinhoes, Fortaleza

4.0
#4 of 10 in Historic Sites in Fortaleza
Mercado dos Pinhoes is a handcraft and art center of old steel construction made in France in 1896. It has been moved around Fortaleza and finally parked in its current location. At night, its stained glass windows come to life. The site sells a bit of everything so it’s a great place to make purchases at great prices. Nearly every night, there is some sort of event taking place. It’s perfect for those who enjoy chorinho, an instrumental Brazilian popular music genre, which originated in 19th century. The market of pine nuts is now a center of gastronomy. There are several "boxes" with chefs selling its dishes ranging from pizzas, quiches, feijoadas, coxinhas up sweets and drinks. There are many options of food and dishes. Recommend it to everyone.

This place is located near the Monsenhor Tabosa Avenue (one of the best known avenues and located just a few metres from Iracema Beach). The space was remodeled and all Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 5:00 pm it opens with several cultural programs: music (all rhythms), craft fairs, vinyl etc. It is composed by 2 spaces, a large programming actually happens and an attachment (on the side) with multiple boxs gourmet chefs each with your dish. Valley report that the value of these plates cost $10.00. In relation to beverages has sites that sell an ice-cold beer (long neck and 600 ml) and caipirinha. Prices range from $5.00 to R$7,50. The location is very nice and has chairs and tables around. Well worth to go and listen to some good music that in the vast majority of the time is live. Another thing the market has a beautiful architecture and possible to park the car when your around but if you can take a taxi, uber, bus and much better because the parking lot is small.

Market of pine nuts is a traditional point of gastronomy, arts and culture. Inserted into the city's cultural calendar with musical activities over the weekend. Recently opened the attachment with your boxes of chefs known inviting prices. Is on the street side of the market with stalls on the ground floor and on the first floor. No doubt a good initiative that provides more alternatives for the admirers of good food.

Where to stay in Fortaleza

If you want to focus on the historical attractions in Fortaleza, stay in the city center or a nearby neighborhood for easy access. Far more popular, however, is the coastal neighborhood of Praia de Iracema, where you can immerse yourself in the city's beach, restaurant, and nightlife scene. Any number of hotels line the neighborhood's expansive beachfront. For something a bit quieter, but still a stone's throw from the beach, look east to the coastal neighborhoods of De Lourdes and Praia do Futuro II. Thanks to the growing popularity of Fortaleza tourism, you can find a range of budget hostels throughout the city.
