Iracema Beach, Fortaleza

Beach Nature / Park
The bohemian beach of Iracema Beach attracts a lively, late night crowd of party-goers including locals and travels. A large concentration of restaurants, bars, and nightclubs line the boardwalk and beaches. Many of the festivities go on all night long and even into the daylight hours. Due to pollution, this is not necessarily a swimming beach, but there are gorgeous views of the sea-green ocean --especially at disk. You'll see several cultural statues like the Statue in Praia de Iracema holding a large bow as if ready for a battle--called "Iracema, Guardiã (Iracema, the Guardian). Not only does the area have a large proportion of bars and nightclubs, art galleries and small boutique souvenir shops dot the boardwalk. Put Iracema Beach into our Fortaleza itinerary builder and find out what's close by, where to stay, and where to head next.

Where to stay in Fortaleza

If you want to focus on the historical attractions in Fortaleza, stay in the city center or a nearby neighborhood for easy access. Far more popular, however, is the coastal neighborhood of Praia de Iracema, where you can immerse yourself in the city's beach, restaurant, and nightlife scene. Any number of hotels line the neighborhood's expansive beachfront. For something a bit quieter, but still a stone's throw from the beach, look east to the coastal neighborhoods of De Lourdes and Praia do Futuro II. Thanks to the growing popularity of Fortaleza tourism, you can find a range of budget hostels throughout the city.

  • Iracema is one of the most popular beaches in Fortaleza but it is not the best one if you looking for swimming. Praia do Futuro is a little better. One detail, the area is really windy.  more »
