  • To go to the shipwreck Beach has to do a track, but it's worth the walk, from the top when you see the beach, is a wonderful satisfaction, and after arriving at the beach is just enjoy this wild beach.

  • easy trail, on average 1 hour's walk, in the middle of preserved Atlantic forest. Arriving on the beach there are only a few houses of former residents to preserve the site until today. Recommend going to the lighthouse on the right side of the beach, upstairs there are also old cannons and the view is really beautiful around Islands and other beaches are seen.

  • No wonder name. The place is beautiful but the name Abbreviates the story of shipwreck in the South, there in front of the quantity of them, and a lot of important people from the past, caught by surprise in incredible situations, from 1519 to the present day. In windy day South is a Dantesque spectacle, extraordinary by the greatness of the power of the sea, and never come out of your retina and memory. And because of him, are shipwrecked, in this excerpt from "Isla de los Patos" as Florianópolis was known: 1. Caravel of the fleet chief pilot and adelantado João Dias de Solis, the Portuguese service of Spain whose mission was to find out the passage to the Mar del Sur of the Pacific Ocean. Date: 1515? 1516? Location: island of the Ducks (later renamed Santa Catarina) or vicinity. Circumstances: returning of the Río de la Plata after the tragic death of João Dias de Solis, sank to make scale on the island of the Ducks (Santa Catarina) or when she was pushed to her for some storm. About 14 people survived the shipwreck. They became the European protocolonizadores in the South of Brazil and the diffusers of the news about the riches that the new continent reserved 2. BATEL of nau San Gabriel, a defector from the armada of dom Jofre García de Loaysa, which was intended to Crazy, then name the Europeans gave the Moluccas or Spice Islands in present-day Indonesia. Date: Friday, may 4 of 1526. Location: on the continent, in Garopaba, or right across from the southern tip of the island of Santa Catarina (praia da Pinheira?). Circumstances: the boat overturned with 23 men aboard when I came to San Gabriel, ship captained by dom Rodrigo de Acuña. It brought, besides food, gold and silver samples obtained inside that would be delivered by the shipwrecked expedition of João Dias de Solis, Henry Montes and Melchor Ramírez, the Captain Don Rodrigo de Acuña. In the accident drowned 15 men. The boat was later recovered by more than 4000 Indians who were brought to the ground from a distance of four miles (about 20 km). 3. Santa María de la Concepción, flagship of the fleet of Sebastian Cabot, who also headed the Moluccas. This is the most famous shipwreck occurred in Brazilian waters, comparable perhaps to the suffered by Gonçalo Coelho and Amerigo Vespucci in the archipelago of Fernando de Noronha, in 1503. Date: Sunday, 28 October 1526. Location: entrance of the South Bay, Santa Catarina Island Circumstances: the ship left your anchorage between the three sisters Islands and trying to get into the Duck Bay (South Bay) with the sea a little agitated, missed the channel, ran aground and capsized on a sandbar near the Peñón rock. The pilot major Miguel de Rodas, veteran of the circumnavigation of Magellan-Elcano, ia probing channel while the master of the vessel timoneava Antón Grajeda ... Polls from the shallower accused, according to some witnesses, 40 fathoms and, according to other, four, five or six fathoms deep. Realizing the difficulty of getting around the tip of the Wreck because of the wind and the currents, Caboto sent anchor Wheels before entering the channel, with fears that the ship hit a few cliffs (possibly the coastline of the tip or the island of Araçatuba). Ignoring, for overconfidence, the orders of the Captain-General transmitted through the master pilot Wheels Grajeda stranded the ship. The rescue of most of matalotagem lasted four days. There was no loss of life, material goods only, as with the belongings of some crewmen, a large amount of cookies, wine and artillery. There was a big effort to save many goods, sails, rigging, gunpowder, guns, boots and some anchors 4. Brig of the Portuguese armada of Captain-mor Martim Afonso de Sousa, founder of São Vicente, the first municipality of Brazil. Date: probably from 30 September to 1 October 1531. Place: near the port of Ducks. Conditions: With a strong northeast wind "and the very great sea", which required the fleet to sail to the South without sails and in favour of a Brigantine, drifted away and washed up on the coast of Santa Catarina. The return of the Río de la Plata, in the first week of January 1532, Martim Afonso sent the Caravel Santa Maria of the cable to the port of Ducks to try to find the Brigantine stray. There were their crewmembers who, with the aid of Spanish 15 found there, they built a new Brig and proceeded to St. Vincent, where they arrived the first week of February 1532. 5. Two caravels of the Alvar Núñez Cabeza de Vaca, first Governor of the island of Santa Catarina and second adelantado of the Río de la Plata province. Date: 1541? 1542? Place: the eight leagues from the island of Santa Catarina, probably on their way to Laguna. Circumstances: Faced a severe thunderstorm during a refueling mission. NAU La Trinidad in the fleet of Alvar Núñez Cabeza de Vaca. Date: 1541? 1542? Place: island of Santa Catarina. Circumstances: deliberate dismantling by not be able to navigate. 6. San Miguel Herrera of the expedition of Diego de Sanabria, adelantado of the Río de la Plata, colonize the coast of Santa Catarina basing your economy on sugar crop. Date: after December 1550. Location: island of Santa Catarina. Circumstances: abandoned for not presenting a position to navigate. 7. patacho of 25 tons or Caravel under command of Don Frances Beaumont y Navarra, Lieutenant Governor of the Río de la Plata Don Diego Rodríguez Valdés y de la Banda. And many more, identified and not identified, "lost without trace", to the present day. Deserve it or not the name?
