  • Simple church, but very beautiful. One should not fail to know Santo Antônio de Lisboa and this pleasant religious building. A peace, a tranquility... I think, apart from the beaches, it was the place I liked to visit most in Florianópolis.

  • Beautiful, small church in Santo Antonio de Lisboa. Close to the street with all the restaurants and small shops. Worth a visit when you are in the area!

  • My post is less about the beautiful church that happens to be in a place for which I have a great connection, but more about the behavior of the priest and the office that administers the church. I am Austrian and I live in Brazil for 4 years in the north of Florianópolis, married to a Brazilian and have a child. My mother in Austria surprisingly died on February 15, 2019 and as I can not go to her funeral in time from here, my deepest desire was to celebrate a mass in the church in Santo Antônio de Lisboa for her. For more than 48 hours I walked in circles, I was told by the Secretariat that Father Ediney was too busy to fulfill my wish and that I should find another priest to do mass there for us. Finally I found a priest from another Trinity parish who is connected with St. Anthony to perform Mass for us only to hear from Father Ediney's office that he would now not authorize the mass being made by another priest with whom he works Actively after having spent a whole day looking for a priest. As last attempt we went to see Father Ediney personally in the church along with friends who have ties with the parish of St. Anthony. We were greeted with such coolness, arrogance and ignorance by the priest who basically said we should call him tomorrow and he will see, but it would be "very difficult" because the church is very busy (note: The Church has 2 masses/week only). Since we had no more time and wanted to somehow co-chair the mass here with the Mass in Austria, we are in the pressure of time. Our family is deeply hurt and shocked by the behavior of the priest and his team in these difficult times. We felt we weren't important enough, they weren't welcome. A man of God must be an example and bright light in the dark, the church is a place of refuge shelter and care. This was a profound personal desire to accomplish, because we have a strong connection with the beauty and magic of St. Anthony and we spend a lot of time there on Sundays, because we live near Jurerê. As you can imagine, losing a mother being thousands of miles away is even harder than if you could be with your brothers and your family to say goodbye to her. My mother worked for a social institution in Austria caring for the elderly and the sick, she always had a heart for everyone. This is something I did not feel in the parish office of St. Anthony and by Father Ediney. He didn't even try to offer sympathy or look into my eyes when we first met. I was educated Catholic, I went to Catholic school. This is not what we were taught how to treat people and certainly should not happen on the side of a man who represents a parish.

  • Beautiful church. Its structure tells a bit of the history of the ancient Desterro.
